12 That They May Know You

Jesus' high priestly prayer in John 17, offered after Judas' departure and during the Upper Room Discourse, reveals the heart of His mission: to glorify the Father through His obedience, sacrifice, and the establishment of the Church. Central to this prayer is the revelation that eternal life is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom He has sent, a truth grounded in divine revelation, faith, and the Holy Spirit's work. Jesus intercedes for His disciples, affirming their identity as God's possession, their preservation through faith, and their sanctification by the truth of Scripture, while also extending His prayer to all future believers, including the Church Age. The prayer underscores the unity of the Father and the Son, the believer's mission to reflect Christ's glory, and the call to live as witnesses empowered by the Spirit, boldly sharing the hope found in Christ, even amid a world that opposes His truth.
