Lesson 10: Verse Mapping
Series How to Study the Bible
Lesson 10: Verse Mapping. This lesson introduced the practice of verse mapping, a method of breaking down a single verse visually and logically in order to better understand, apply, and live out God's Word. By slowing down and examining each phrase, men learned how Scripture provides clear guidance for daily decisions and long-term direction.Using Proverbs 3:5–6 as our focus, we explored the path of divine direction and discovered that God's guidance is revealed through intentional trust and surrender. First, we examined a full trust—"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart." True direction begins with wholehearted dependence on God rather than divided loyalty or partial faith.Next, we considered a faulty throne—"Lean not unto thine own understanding." This verse challenges men to step down from self-rule and recognize the limits of human wisdom. When self becomes the authority, direction becomes unstable. The lesson then moved to a faithful turn—"In all thy ways acknowledge Him." Acknowledging God means inviting Him into every area of life, not just spiritual moments. Daily choices, relationships, work, and goals must all be submitted to His authority. Finally, we looked at a fixed track—"And He shall direct thy paths." God promises clear direction to those who trust, surrender, and acknowledge Him. Divine guidance is not random or uncertain; it is purposeful and faithful. This study reminded us that verse mapping helps move Scripture from the page into our lives. When men learn to break down God's Word and apply it intentionally, they are better equipped to walk confidently on the path God has prepared.
