A Transfer of Duty

The Lord had just prayed for the sanctification of His covenant people; now He declares both His current mission and their future work. There is so much sadness, so much empathy with the apostles and other disciples as Jesus prepares to culminate His ministry by dying. He will die a death that while horrifying to the flesh is equally glorifying to the redeemed soul. In our text Jesus speaks of the transfer of ministry from Christ directly into the hands of His followers.
