The Gospel - The Power of God Unto Salvation
Series Romans
Today's meeting focused on a detailed exegesis of Romans 1:1-17, with emphasis on the gospel as the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also the Gentile. Paul's unique calling and perspective as an orthodox Jewish believer and apostle to the Gentiles led to his strong desire to preach in Rome, the most important city in the world at that time. Paul is careful in this introduction to his instruction to the Roman believers to focus on defining what the gospel is and how through it both Jew and Gentile alike can believe and receive the power of salvation. The apostle wants the believers in Rome to fully comprehend his message of salvation is given to to the Jewish people first, but is equally available to the Gentiles, as well.
