The Office & Work of Deacons

In this message I want to trace the roots and the development of the office of Deacon, to see the distinct difference in the function of the offices of elder and deacon. I want also to go into a few of the qualifications for a man to become a deacon. I want us to see 1st of all – That the office of Deacon grew out of a need to serve tables. Then 2nd – The office of Deacon grew out of a need to protect and relieve the pastoral overseers in their work. And 3rd – Flowing from this, we will consider in just a little detail, the first four qualifications for a Deacon.
