Paul had been in the city of Thessalonica for a very short time. Nonetheless he preached Christ crucified, buried & risen from the dead and some believed, were baptized, and a church was begun within days. Paul taught this young church what he could, but because of persecution soon he was forced to leave. But they of Thessalonica heard his teaching and continued following after Jesus Christ. Thus the occasion for one of the earliest epistles written by Paul to a church. Consider well the things written in this letter. As it was for that church, so it is for every church that is just like they were.
