Sins of the Nation (P3): Unacceptable Worship (excursus: Day of the Lord)

The fifth sin which Amos addresses that Israel was guilty of is the sin of unacceptable or empty worship. They resorted to a hollow traditionalism, because of a lack of transformation, which lead to a false sense of security, which God equated to idolatry and worthy of his judgment and discipline. What a sobering warning to each of us as we take care not to allow our worship to transform from sincere to tradition, and never to forsake the necessary transformation of a relationship with the Lord.
