For what do you pray?

How are we to pray when someone is going through something very difficult in their lives? Pray that they would get out of it? That they would see something good in it? That they would endure it? That they would honor God in it? Are these mutually exclusive?
I. We must first biblically interpret our situation (v. 5).
II. We must understand God’s end game in our situation (vv. 10, 12).
III. Pray that God would enable you (and others) to live a life worthy of His calling (v. 11).
IV. Pray that God would fulfill your (their) resolve for good (and work of faith) (v. 11).
