God Cares for His People : Why the Details are Important

Chapters 11 & 12 bring longs lists of cities and people: Why are all these details given and what are we to do with them in a sermon or our meditation during a daily devotion time?

Pastor Stoos reminds us that ALL Scripture is inspired by God, even the lists of names and places! He lays out two important principles when approaching God's Word regarding paying attention to details and remembering the BIG picture of Jesus and His redemptive work. All the people and places here in Nehemiah are going to be used by God, who keeps track of ALL the details, to lay the foundation and heritage for all those who would serve God at the coming of His son Jesus some four hundred years later. He is preparing for the Christmas story!
