Negating the Reformation
Series Reformation Month 2004
The closing message of the series on the Counter-Reformation focuses on the modern ecumenical movement as a continuing manifestation of the Counter-Reformation in the contemporary world. That movement, exemplified by the World Council of Churches and the deceptive actions of the Second Vatican Council, has its roots in the rationalism and skepticism with which the Jesuits sought to infect Protestant seminaries during the latter part of the 17th and throughout the 18th and 19th Centuries. At the end of it all, the modern ecumenical movement argues for a "reversal of the trend that began at the Reformation."
