I Have Come to Do Your Will

In 1:5-7, the writer of Hebrews draws from Psalm 40 to reveal Christ's incarnation as a deliberate fulfillment of God's will, where His humanity, prepared for sacrifice, enables Him to be both the perfect High Priest and the perfect sacrifice, uniquely able to bear the wrath of God on behalf of sinners. This was His mission, the reason for which He came. Christ's life of perfect obedience and His willing submission to death demonstrate the depth of divine love and the gravity of human sin, calling believers to respond with wholehearted devotion, living as living sacrifices in imitation of Christ.
