I Shall Not Want

In the original Hebrew the phrase means "I in nothing am lacking" and it encompasses both the physical and spiritual. David is not speaking about the future but the here and now. This passage does not deal with our selfish wants but, rather, our actual needs.
To be content in our daily lives we have to be content with who we are (sheep) and who He is (shepherd).
