ASSURANCE

Psalm 27

I. Freedom from fear (verses 1-4)

A. Fear is a thief that robs us of assurance (verse 1)(1 Pe 5.8-9)

B. Faith is the answer (verses 2-4)(Habakkuk 1:2-3, 2:1, 3:17-19)

II. Praise despite trouble (verses 5-6)

(See Job 5.6-8). David is of the same mind.

A. God is our refuge and strength (verses 5-6a).

B. Assurance must turn to praise (verse 6b)(Ps 145:1-3)

III. Prayer with confidence (verses 7-13)

A. A prayer to be heard (v 7-8)(Ps 91.15-16)

B. Prayer for God's presence (v. 9-10).

C. Prayer for instruction (v. 11).

D. Prayer for preservation. (v. 12-13).

Conclusion: (verse 14).

(1) 'Wait on the LORD'.

(2) 'Be of good courage'.
