Jesus' Burial

Joseph, Nicodemus, and Pilate all had a part to play in Jesus' burial, as had the women who watched it happen. Joseph showed a remarkable blend of devotion and humility, and God's providence used his social standing to honour Jesus. The place of burial also showed Jesus to be free from the consequences of sin, and the garden tomb hinted at Paradise regained. Burial is the ultimate human humiliation, but for Jesus it was also rest. His people share that humiliation, but they too can rest in hope.
