Lecture 10 | Further Selected Theological Themes in Christology and Jesus and the Spirit.

In this lecture we consider more of the main Christological themes found in the four Gospels. Matthew particularly presents for his Jewish readers Jesus as the Second Moses, who by His death for us accomplishes a new and greater exodos or redemption, setting out for us the true meaning of the law in the Sermon on the Mount and by the shedding of His own blood brings us into a new covenant relationship with God. As Logos He transcends all Hellenistic or Jewish perceptions of this concept and is affirmed by John as the Logos who exists in the beginning, exists with God, in the very nature of God. He is agent of creation, the source of all life and light, who Himself being God, reveals the unseen God. Jesus is the Lamb of God, who fulfils all that Passover looked forward to and is the shepherd of His people who lays down His life for them. In all His ministry, He is enabled, guided by the Spirit of God.
