Elijah #14 How Are the Mighty Restored!

As we have seen in the life of Elijah, even the mighty fall into great discouragement, face bouts of depression,
and even feel at times like they cannot press forward another step. However, we also see in the life of Elijah how the mighty who have fallen are restored by the Lord Jesus.
Granted, not every child of God is restored into fellowship with Jesus Christ in the same way, but what is the same is the almighty power of God's love, grace, and mercy that will not let you go but is bound by faithfulness to His Covenant of Grace to give you perseverance so that you will not give up, quit, or surrender (even if you feel like doing so). Dear ones, it is not your faith, hope, or love that ultimately upholds you. It is Jesus Christ that upholds your faith, hope, and love. It is Jesus Christ that grants you perseverance not to quit. It is God that is at work within you both to will and to do His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). And that good work of grace that He has begun within you, He will perform and work it out until the day of Jesus Christ
(Philippians 1:6). The only reason any of us do not give up is because Jesus Christ has promised not to let us go regardless of what we may face (2 Corinthians 4:8-10).
Let us learn from the God of all mercy His restoring love to a mighty warrior and lion of the covenant, Elijah, who sinfully fell into the depths of discouragement. The main points from our text are the following: (1) The Loving Rebuke of the Lord (1 Kings 19:9-10); (2) The Comfort of God's Still Small Voice (1 Kings 19:11-14).
