Enslaved to Sin - Part 1

"Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."

I. A Solemn Truth (8:34a)
A. Jesus said it.
B. "Verily, verily" is a double amen.

II. A Comprehensive Scope (8:34b)
A. "Committeth sin" refers to its habitual practice, not lapses.
B. All who do not really believe in Jesus, professors or not.
C. This still reminds real Christians of our need of grace.

III. A Miserable Reality (8:34c)
A. "Servant" means bondservant or slave.
B. This is a voluntary slavery that preserves moral responsibility.
C. Our only hope is not our own free will but God's free grace.
