IV. Its scriptural TRUTH
A Chosen People

Election Precedes Salvation.
Sovereign Mercy (the basis)
God's Sovereignty over All Things
God rules creation with absolute control
1 Chronicles 29:10-13 (12: You rule over all…)
Job 42:1,2 (2: …No purpose of yours can be thwarted)
Psalm 115:1-3 (3: Our God is in the Heavens, He does all that He pleases.)
Psalm 135:6 (Whatever he pleases, he does…)
Isaiah 14:24 (“As I have planned, so shall it be, as I have purposed, so shall it stand)
Isaiah 14:27 (… who will annul it? …. Who will turn it back?)
Isaiah 46:8-11 (… My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose)
Isaiah 55:11 (My word-… but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.)
Daniel 4:34-35 (…He does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay his hand, or say to him “what have you done?”)
IV. Its Practical Benefits
It should produce:
Humility- It should be profoundly humbling; we owe EVERYTHING to God's sovereign mercy...
Encouragement- God loved and chose us in eternity past despite knowing ALL about us….what could we possibly do to alter that?
Confidence- We need not apply worldly standards to our work and witness as God's people- (“My WORD shall not return void”). We must be obedient, but the Lord's purpose is not based on our achievement and skill.
