Why forsaken?

Jesus understands bewilderment. His experience on the cross seemed inconsistent with his relationship with God. Yet his faith remained - 'My' God. His enemies could not bear to think that God acknowledged him, so they pretended he said something different. There was no inconsistency, for God's Word was being fulfilled, but it shows us that pain can even hide God's truth from us. Christ was forsaken so we may never be. He felt despair so we may not feel it. We have a Saviour who knows our temptations and weaknesses.
