The Elect Lady of 2nd John

The Elect Lady of 2nd John. 2 John 1-13 It is the only book in the Bible addressed to a woman. It is also the shortest book in the New Testament. Only 13 verses. And yet .. it is within those 13 verses we find a word of encouragement and warning to every Father and Mother and Child. Moms and Dads ... the Devil is targeting your Home! He has your home sighted in on his rife. He is out to destroy your life ... your love and your loved ones! So ... who is this lady? Well .. we're not told who she is. Perhaps John is referring to the church since the church is referred to in the Bible as the "bride of Christ."The problem with that is that the church is not pictured in the Bible as having children. There are no children of the church. When you receive the Lord Jesus into your life .. you are born into the family of God. You become a child of God .. not a child of the church. John is apparently writing this letter to a literal woman who had been saved. In fact ... it seems that she was a single Mother trying to raise her children! John was particularly concerned because an esteemed Christian sister known to him was unwittingly giving some heretical teachers misguided aid.The possibility is that this letter was written from Ephesus, but we have no exact information as to when it was written or where John was when he wrote it.Our joy is replenished not by money, or success, or friendships, but by knowing that our fellow believers are walking in the truth.
