The Christian's Astronomical Beauty
Series Series in Song of Solomon
In these words of Solomon to the Shulamite we hear the words of Christ to his Church. In short, the beauty of his Church is astronomical –the rising dawn, the moon, the sun, and the host of stars.
These things are beyond us, we cannot see our beauty as our Savior does, we can identify our sin and spiritual ugliness. The beauty of the Christian is best seen in contrast to what we were by nature (sinful, depraved), in remembrance of what we are in Christ (conquered, subdued) and in anticipation of what we will be in glory.
The believer’s beauty is portrayed here as the rising dawn, the silvery reflection of the moon, the warmth of the sun and as awe-inspiring as the starry host.
