My Christ, My Blessed Assurance

Martin Luther struggled to find assurance of salvation. He found that assurance when he realized that it didn't depend on him. As Romans 5:1-11 proclaims, we have peace with God through Christ. We stand in grace through Christ. We are justified by Christ's death. We're saved from God's wrath by Christ. And Christ did all of this, not for the righteous, but sinners. Luther realized, "my Christ is my righteousness and, therefore, my assurance!"
