Acts 15:22-16:10

I. The Letter to the Churches 15:22-35

A. Four Provisional Requests 19-22

These practices were offensive to the Jews (see v. 21)
Galatians 2:11-16
These practices were part of Gentile religious Temple worship
1 Cor. 8:1-6; 6:12-20


B. The Decision Published 15:23-35

1. The men who declared circumcision to be necessary for salvation were not
   speaking with the authority of the church – who declared just the opposite.

2. It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to the church

3. More than circumcision was at stake, it was all of OT ceremonial law.

4. You will do well to avoid these things.

5. The Gentiles were glad to comply with the decision.

6. Note the Providence of God in verse 34.
