Christ Alone
Series 2010 Reformation Weekend
The arduous journey that Martin Luther and a more senior colleague made to Rome beginning near the end of 1510, 500 years ago, was to be a turning point in Luther's life. Expecting to see and experience the spiritual joys of what he had been taught was the citadel of the paradise of God on earth, he became disillusioned instead by the widespread corruption and the impatience with anything remotely spiritual. It was the experience that led him to the turmoil of soul that led him ultimately to Christ as the sole Savior of sinners. He turned away from other counterfeit intercessors and learned to place all his hope in Christ as the only mediator between God and men.
