Baptism: A Vow to God and a Means of Grace

Is baptism something that we do for God, or something that God does for us? A careful examination of scripture teaches that it is both. As a covenantal ceremony, the believer is publicly identifying with Christ and vowing to walk in accordance with His lordship, while God Himself is pouring out grace and using this sacrament to strengthen and mature faith.
