The Dividing Line
Series Who is Jesus the Christ?
Today we want to start talking about the crucifixion and look at the doctrine it teaches. Last week we looked at the permissive will of God. God controls and overrides the sin of men to use it for His purpose. He doesn’t tempt men nor is He tempted by evil. He is pure. This is a start to understanding what happened during the crucifixion. God allowed men to follow their own evil hearts and this is where it led them. Evil is not just a little bad, outside of God’s control, but evil (sin) IS all consuming and won’t stop until it has brought man to ruin and extinguishes the light. Yet there are some other doctrines that we want to look at before we talk about the actual facts of the crucifixion. First, let’s look at the word “doctrine.” It isn’t something to be afraid of, or to worry about. It is something critical to everything about us. Let’s take a bit of time to explain doctrine and why it is important to our lives.
