The Beginning of Mark

Every good story has a good beginning and Mark now proposes to sit down and tell us the beginning of the greatest story of all; the Gospel story, “The Gospel is the joyous story of God's redemptive activities through Christ on behalf of sinful people.”

What we have here is the Title the book that Mark writes. Verse one belongs to whole book of Mark as its title. This explains why there is no verb in this first phrase. The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

It is a nice size title. Just long enough to develop a sermon on it.
