The Ghosts That Returned Home
Series The Acts of the Apostles
The Ghosts That Returned Home. Mark 5:1–20; Psalm 34:18; John 14:27 (KJV) [Helping those haunted by memories to find peace in the healing power of Christ.]On a night when the world plays with shadows and calls it Halloween, the Word of God shines a greater light—a light that drives out real darkness. In Mark 5, we meet a man living among tombs—haunted, chained, and forgotten. But when Jesus steps onto the shore, every ghost of torment must bow. What the world saw as hopeless, heaven saw as redeemable.
Like that man, many today carry invisible chains—haunting memories, regrets, and losses that whisper from the past. But Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart." Christ draws close to those who feel furthest gone. And when Jesus speaks His word of peace—John 14:27—"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you"—the restless soul finds rest. The haunted become healed. The broken come home.
• The Haunted Life – represents every soul bound by sin, shame, or sorrow.
• The Holy Encounter – declares that no chain, no demon, no darkness can withstand the presence of Christ.
• The Healed Witness – reveals that the same Jesus who delivered the man among the tombs still sends restored hearts home as living testimonies of grace.Just as that man returned home clothed, calm, and commissioned, so can every believer who meets Jesus in their brokenness. The ghosts of your past may follow you, but they do not define you. When Christ calls you home, even your haunting becomes a testimony of His healing.
