The Gospel of the Unknown God
Series Acts 2010
Athens was the cultural, intellectual, and idol-worshipping center of the Roman Empire when the apostle Paul arrived there. Rather than being discouraged or intimidated by the paganism of the environment, he was provoked. Paul took the Gospel to the streets and market places meeting the people where they were. He was undeterred in the face of centuries old philosophies as he confronted the intellectual elite. His message remained centered on Jesus Christ and His resurrection its simplicity as he picked up on the religious interests of the people he spoke to.
He highlighted the differences between the true God who created the heavens, the earth, and all people with the gods created by man. He then built to the accountability of every person before the God who as Creator of all, will judge all by His standard of perfect righteousnesss.
