2nd - Idolatry in the Church - Not through the senses

Idolatry raises its ugly head in the Church as individuals attemtp to approach God through their senses. When you attempt to spiritualize the senses you are more apt to sensualize the spirit. You cannot come to God through the senses. We are to come to Him in Spirit and in Truth. Constructing images of God materially or in your imagination is like communing with your wife through a photograph... and not even a photograph of your wife. It is an insult to God and it interferes with the deep communion He hold's out to those who will come to Him in Spirit and in Truth.
