Cosmic Conflict: the Seed War, Part 1

The interpretive parenthesis (chapters 10-11:14) ends the sounding of the seventh trumpet (11:15-19). The seventh trumpet ends it all. The kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of God and His Christ.

The second Psalm is clearly the foundation of the song of praise offered in verses 17 and 18.

Chapter 12 opens with signs in heaven. The woman and the red dragon. The woman is the people of God—the seed of the woman (Gen. 3:15). The dragon is the "old serpent" Satan (v. 9). The chapter describes the conflict which God established between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman.

Satan tried to destroy the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, but was unable to do so, He being taken to heaven in the resurrection and ascension.

Satan then tried to destroy the woman through deception and lies, as with Eve in the Garden. She, however, is protected by God in the place He prepared for her.

Satan, then, turns his wrath on "the rest of her seed"—individual churches and believers.
