A sickness not unto Death but for the glory of God

This is the introduction to the miracle of healing Lazarus from the dead to show, once again, that Jesus is God in human form. Mary and Martha appeal to Jesus to heal Lazarus on the basis of His love for Lazarus and not the other way around. Jesus would perform this miracle healing for the glory of God and Christ and would not have happened had He went right away when He heard. In Verses 9 - 10 Jesus, by way of illustration, talks about the sovereignty of God in the amount of time one has in life and also talked about God getting glory in healing as well as not healing. We ended with a challenge to all of us to love Christ enough to want to die for Him as Thomas did.
