God, The Faithful One

Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Paul closes out his first letter to the Thessalonians by again stressing ethical exhortations to God's people. Yet the Apostle is also acutely aware of how spiritually weak God's people are in actually living out such commands, and so Paul stresses that it is God Himself who will faithfully work within us in order to enable us to live out His will for our lives. In our passage we see:

1. God's role in our sanctification.
2. Final instructions concerning our sanctification:
   a. For office-bearers.
   b. For the congregation.
   c. For each believer.
   d. For true spirituality.
3. God's faithfulness in Christ in our sanctification.
