Revival | When God Came Down

HEZEKIAH | The Story of Revival | When God Came Down

Hezekiah's name means "Yahweh strengthens" or "God gives strength," revealing that he was a king whose strength came from having a living relationship with God. In his early years he was living in personal revival. Looking at Hezekiah's Family, we see that he was born during the reign of his grandfather, who "prepared his ways before the LORD his God," (2 Chronicles 27:6). In contrast, Hezekiah's Father was Ahaz who brought great moral decline to the nation. His son was twenty-five when he came to the throne. The text in 2 Chronicles reveals that Hezekiah was living in personal holiness; that he renewed contact with God for the people in opening the doors of the temple. The leaders then cleared out all the rubbish, leaving the whole house ready for the worship of the Living God. Here we learn that Hezekiah, the leaders and the nation itself put themselves in the way of revival. Then God came down.
