“The Folly of Familiarity”
Series John
We value least the things which are most familiar. Treasures, no matter how desirable, often lose their luster, and exquisite beauties fade into obscurity the more familiar they become. Nowhere is this truth more evident than when we consider the early life of Jesus. Before He was glorified, He lived for 30 years in obscurity as the carpenter's son. In their casual familiarity with Him, many in His own community, and even some within His own household, refused to accept His true identity and, as a result, scorned Heaven's King. Consequently, Jesus declared, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home" (Mt.13:57). Join us on Sunday as we carefully examine the perils of becoming casually acquainted with Jesus.
