Psalm 77: Footprints

You know the classic “footprints” story?
I dreamed I saw two sets of footprints on the beach –
God and I were walking together on the sand.
But then in the most difficult times I only saw one.
I asked, why did you abandon me in times of difficulty?
God said, “I was carrying you.”

Psalm 77 provides a different twist.

Because in Psalm 77 there are no footprints.

There are times when we experience the presence of God. There are times when he seems to be absent, but we see his footprints –
we see the evidence of his provision for us – we see his mighty deeds.

But then there are times when there are no footprints...
