A City Surrounded

This morning we sing about and focus on the glorious promise made to those who seek refuge in the Lord - to those who seek refuge in the Lord they will find it. To be united to the Triune Lord is to be made strong, lifted up and surrounded by Him as their refuge. The Psalmist expresses not only the extent of the Lord's protection, but the condition of that protection - you must trust the Lord alone, and not turn aside to the idols of this world. Those who seek salvation in the Lord are safe from the threats of the Evil one, but those who turn to idols and wickedness forsake the safety that is found in union with the Lord.
