The Filling of the Holy Spirit

After Jesus ascended​, the apostles filled the spot of Judas Iscariot with one of two people who had been with Jesus since His baptism, Matthias. After his appointment, it was then time for the second feast of Israel - Shavuot or Pentecost. This celebration, which brought thousands from all over the world to Jerusalem, commemorates the bringing of the first fruits of your harvest and Matan Torah (The Giving of the Law). Remarkably when Moses gave the Law to Israel, everyone was able to understand what He said​ in their own dialect, and here the LORD replicates that ​miracle when the disciples are filled with His Spirit. Indeed, the people in the streets below the house, from all sorts of different places, understood what the​ disciples were saying in their own dialect. This was the first of many "Acts of the Holy Spirit" we will discover in the Book of Acts.
