The Question of Justification

The explicit debate over the biblical doctrine of justification goes back over a millennium and a half. Beginning with the Pelagian threat to the understanding of justification, the church wrestled with this issue until the 16th century when it came to a head in the Reformation. This Sunday School session considers the historical development of the present day articulations of the doctrine and suggests that contemporary errors are even more egregious than those which brought about the original separation between Protestants and Roman Catholics.
