HEZEKIAH | Pointers to Revival
Psalm 85:6 reminds us of the fact that revival comes from God. While we may endeavour to do all we can to put ourselves in the way of revival, it is God Himself who sends it. Note in 2 Chronicles 30 some pointers to revival in the time of Hezekiah. There was a revival of evangelism as Hezekiah and the leaders in Jerusalem reached out to all Israel and Judah, sending a proclamation and letters from Dan to Beersheba, to Ephraim and Manasseh, across the Jordan, even to Zebulun inviting all to come to the Passover in Jerusalem. The hand of God drew many as they were given singleness of heart to obey the king's command, at the word of the Lord. A fresh commitment was made to remove all rival altars – all rivals to Him. A new sense of sin gripped people and leaders. There was a revival of the concern to obey the Lord, to praise Him, leading to great joy in Jerusalem with prayer going up to God's holy dwelling place, to heaven. Revival had come. May we also be open to seek God.
