Set Apart for God’s Purpose
Series Deep Dive
From the opening chapters of Genesis to the final vision of Revelation, the theme of holiness pulses at the heart of God's relationship with His people. Holiness is not just an attribute of God—it is His very identity, the radiant beauty of His perfection. And remarkably, God invites, calls, and equips His people to share in that holiness: "Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy" (Leviticus 20:26).
To many, the word "holy" might evoke images of ascetic monks or self-righteous religious leaders cut off from the joys and struggles of ordinary people. Yet, biblically, holiness is a dynamic, life-giving reality—an invitation into communion with God and a journey into wholeness, joy, and purpose.
In 1 Corinthians 1:2, Paul addresses "those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints"—linking the Old Testament's call to holiness with its fulfillment in Christ. The church is not just a social group or a moral club; it is a people set apart by God, for God, to reflect His likeness in a world searching for meaning and truth.
