The Trial of Faith

The standard treatment of the book of Ruth begins with the assumption that Elimilech and his family were guilty of many errors in the decisions leading to the circumstances. These assumptions fail to explain the faith of the story's heroine, Ruth. Contrarywise, the issues which are raised by an assumed faithfulness illustrate much that is of use to the Christian church.
