Hating Christ's Authority as King

Pilate asked Jesus (presumably with incredulity or sarcasm), "Are you the King of the Jews?" He doubted Christ's royalty and he restricted Christ's jurisdiction ("of the Jews"). Pilate is like any sinner. Sinners not only doubt the authority of Christ, they also try to limit His jurisdiction. According to scripture, it's personal. They do not want this man to reign over them. They don't mind a king, just not Christ. They don't mind laws, just not Christ's laws. They don't mind religion, just not Christ's religion.
