The Counsel of the Ungodly

Moses left his wife, Zipporah, along with their two children with Jethro, his father-in-law and went to Egypt to bring the people of God out of slavery. Now, Jethro, an ungodly priest of Midian offers Moses his unsolicited counsel and then leaves never to be heard from again. The Bible is clear--our instruction needs to come from the LORD, not an idolatrous priest who knows nothing of the law of the LORD. Indeed, the first psalm says it best, "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scoffers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD and in his law does he mediate day and night."
