Experiential Christianity (Ephesians 3:14-21)

How do we pray? This is a question that the disciples asked Jesus, and it is a question that pastors are often asked today. We would all agree that prayer is essential to the Christian life, yet for many of us, we aren't sure how to do it.

Thankfully, in the Scriptures, God gives us a model of how to pray through the pen of the Apostle Paul. There are 42 recorded prayers by Paul in the Scriptures, every one of them showing us how we are to pray. In Ephesians 3:14-21 we see with great clarity how Paul prayed for his beloved church at Ephesus. Though their circumstances were not easy and persecution was beginning, this wasn't the focus of Paul's prayer for them. Paul's prayer for them is that they would experience the greatness of the Gospel firsthand.

The Bible makes no provision for theoretical Christianity. Rather, true Christianity is experiential: we don't just grasp the doctrine of the Gospel; rather we come to embrace the life-changing love of Christ in the Gospel. Listen along as Pastor Mark expounds on Paul's prayer for experiential Christianity.
