From the Court to the Cross
Series From Gethsemane to Glory
Jesus died as an outcast. He was expelled from the holy city and from God's blessing. He was the central figure in the group of criminals being executed - 'numbered with the transgressors'. His clothing - a symbol of God's mercy - was taken away. He was nailed to the cross - no escape from God's curse. He did not resist, but warned the people of the hell that was coming. We will suffer as he did unless we repent. His death saves sinners - the innocent dying for 'the sins of the world'. An example of that is the thief on the cross. In his weakness he asked for mercy - and Jesus promised him heaven.
