Pray Like This: Forgive Us Our Debts
Series The Lord's Prayer
Our sins incur a debt of punishment: just as our sins cause pain to others and to God, so we become liable before God to the pain of punishment. But forgiveness removes that liability to punishment. God forgives us when we confess our debts. Nonetheless, if you want forgiveness, you must forgive your debtors.
