DAVID: Fear vs. Faith

Saul and his army feared Goliath (1 Samuel 17:11, 24). The army fled before him in fear. David's allies discounted him.

David trusted the Lord. He realized the army was the army of the Living God (1 Samuel 17:26). He remembered God's past help with lions and bears (17:34-37). This prompted him to volunteer for service. David told Goliath that the battle was the Lord's (17:48).

David's faith in the Lord gave him the courage to run to battle (48); the army's fear led them to run from battle (17:24). David's faith and courage brought victory from the Lord as the Philistines now fled before the armies of the Lord (17:51).
