The Will of the Lord Be Done
Series Exposition of Acts
Paul continues on his way to Jerusalem where "chains and tribulations await." As he goes from city to city, the disciples told him through the Spirit not to go, but the text indicates that he has made a Nazarite vow and is determined to pay it. As he comes to Caesarea, Agabus comes down and demonstrates what will happen to him. At this point, even Luke and the rest of those who are traveling with him are trying to persuade him not to go. In this passage, we see how much Paul has been conformed to the image of Christ. He is following in his footsteps, where he is determined to do His Father's will even if it means his death. Even if it means being abandoned by all. The disciples understand this as they accept "the will of the Lord be done."
