There are many Old and New Testament passages to which we could turn to that demonstrate this quality of Christ's leadership of His sheep. The mere image of a Shepherd and His flock shows it; the leadership of Moses over Israel demonstrates it; and certainly the life of the Lord Jesus Himself that we find in the Gospels portrays this fact - that leadership in the Kingdom of God is not of the nature of "lording it over them" for personal gain and glory.
